Born Again - February 7, 1956

Ye must be born the second time,

In order to enjoy;

Sweet fellowship with Christ the Lamb,

Who left heaven's employ;

And came to earth that we might have,

Redemption from all sin;

And thus we learn from God's good Book,

We must be born again.

No culture can suffice, my dear,

We must be born again;

That is God's plan and only one,

To save us from our sin.

The first born is a water birth,

Important, yes, indeed;

But still we need the Spirit's birth,

If we would heaven see.

By God's Spirit are we baptized,

Into the Christian life;

And by God's Spirit we thus gain,

Victory over strife.

And when the silver cord shall loose,

If faithful to the end;

Our souls shall leap with joy, my dear,

That we were born again.
