What can we say, what can we do,
To beat the swords and spears;
Into pruning hooks to bless,
And also to plowshares?
I think I know what we can do,
To help God in this fight;
We can abhor all evil here,
And walk in heaven's light.
A little love and kindness here,
A soul filled with good will;
Will help to turn the tide for good,
God's holy will fulfill.
No sword nor spear can find a place,
Where love is in control;
But plowshares and the pruning hook,
Can play a noble role.
Sin is the thing that causes man,
To use the sword and spear;
Therefore let us be diligent,
All sin to conquer here;
And when this task shall have been done,
Then swords and spears shall be;
Converted into instruments,
To bless humanity.
